Carbondale, Ill.- The University of Northern Iowa women's swimming and diving team wrapped up the last day of competition at the MVC Championships. UNI placed fifth with 298 points. Chelsea Hartman was the top finisher of the day for the Panthers.
Hartman, in her final meet as a Panther, finished fifth in the 1,650 freestyle with a time of 17:17.72. Allison Hobbs (18.13.06), Reva Bork (18.16.33), and Ashley Nelson (19:02.85) finished 14th-16th respectively in the same event.
Allison Hobbs was the top finisher in the 200 backstroke. She placed 13th and clocked in at 2:09.29. Jody Peterson was one spot behind her, in 14th, with a time of 2:09.46.
Elise Drewsen took the 14th spot in the 100 freestyle, finishing with a time of 53.86. Becca Ortmann took 17th in the same event with a time of 54.58, and Jamie Pearson was 19th with a time of 55.11.
In the 200 breaststroke, Stephanie Paape took the spot for the Panthers, placing 11th with a time of 2:24.60. Caryn Knight took 13th with a time of 2:25.52. Tina Sherwood (2:28.14) and Sarah Hedeen (2:29.31) placed 18th and 19th respectively.
Kayla McCormick placed 15th in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:14.84. Jessie Nemesi finished 16th in the event with a time of 2:15.23. Lindsey Phelps took 18th place, clocking in at 2:17.25.
Bethany Olson placed 6th in the 3-meter dive and scored 225.35 points for the Panthers. Morgan Kinney finished with 247.85 points and placed 9th.
The 400 freestyle relay took fifth place for the Panthers with a time of 3:35.02. The team consisted of Kenzie Smith, Pearson, Drewsen, and Phelps.
Natalie Johnson, Bethany Olson, and Chelsea Hartman earned MVC second-team all conference honors for the Panthers.
