ST. LOUIS - University of Northern Iowa sophomore forward Chip Rank (Cedarburg, Wis./Cedarburg HS) has been named to the 2011-12 Missouri Valley Conference's All-Bench Team.

Rank has seen action in all 31 games and started once for the Panthers this season. Rank is averaging 6.2 points and 2.8 rebounds per game. He ranks first on the team in 3-point field goal percentage (47.3 percent - 35-of-74). He is second on the team in field goal percentage (51.6 percent). Rank has recorded nine double-digit scoring efforts off the bench after having only one double-figure effort as a redshirt freshman last season. Rank scored the game-winning shot with 2.2 seconds left in a 61-60 win over Missouri State (1/13). He scored a career-high 15 points at Bradley (1/15). Heading into the MVC Tournament, Rank has made a 3-pointer in nine straight games.

Junior Ned Cox of Evansville and junior Ben Simons of Drake headline the list of selections for the 2012 Missouri Valley Conference specialty teams for men's basketball.  Cox, a native of San Antonio, Texas, has been tabbed the conference's Team Captain for the All-Bench Team, while Simons, a native of Cadillac, Mich., is the league's Team Captain for the Most-Improved Team.

The teams, which were selected by the league's newspaper beat writers, are comprised of a minimum of five student-athletes (top five vote-getters, plus ties) on each squad.

Cox played in all 29 games for Evansville this year while making two starts.  He averaged 9.3 points per game.  Cox has 10 double-digit scoring efforts, led by a pair of 20-point outings.  In a November contest at Illinois Chicago, he set his career mark with 24 points as he hit 9-of-13 shots.  Cox made two starts for the Aces, scoring 16 points against Oakland City before leading Evansville with 17 points in a start in the regular season finale against Missouri State.  He's joined on the All-Bench Team by Kurt Alexander of Drake, Bryant Allen of Illinois State, Chip Rank of UNI, and Ethan Wragge of Creighton

Simons leads the MVC in three-point field goals per game (2.6), and is No. 23 among NCAA Division I players in three-point field goal percentage (.426). With a career-high seven three-pointers at Wichita State last Saturday, Simons now ranks sixth among active MVC players and eighth on Drake's career list with 145. His 66 treys this season tie for 10th-most by a Bulldog.  The junior has topped the 20-point mark seven times this season, including a career-high of 29 points vs. Wichita State (1/28/12), which matched the best output by a Bulldog since 2008.  Last year, he averaged 8.1 points and 2.0 rebounds while starting 15 of Drake's 31 games.  He is joined on the Most-Improved Team by Bradley's Walt Lemon, Jr., Illinois State's Jackie Carmichael, Missouri State's Caleb Patterson and Wichita State teammates Joe Ragland and Garrett Stutz.
