The University of Northern Iowa women's softball team capped a three-game sweep of the Drake Bulldogs with an 11-2 win on Saturday. UNI's win streak climbed to 15 following the victory.

The Panthers sent sophomore Jamie Fisher to the circle to start game three. Fisher coming off a win Friday afternoon got off to a quick start holding the Bulldogs to just a single hit in the first three innings. The Bulldogs got on the board in the fourth and fifth innings collecting two runs off Fisher. Fisher tossed a complete game, allowing six hits, two runs and struck out four in the win.

At the plate the Panthers had no trouble getting the bats going. Seniors Mackenzie Daigh, Hannah Borschel, and Laura Turner each crossed the plate in the 1st giving the Panthers a 3 run advantage. Daigh and Borschel each repeated in the 2nd to add a pair of runs to the 3-0 lead. The bats never seemed to slow down throughout the game. Entering the bottom of the 5th with a 9-2 lead, UNI needed just one run to finish off the Bulldogs. Melissa Walls reached base on a walk followed by freshmen Julia Hunter’s 2nd homerun on the week which ended the Bulldogs chances of any comeback.

With the win UNI improves to a 28-9 record on the season and a perfect 12-0 record in Missouri Valley Conference play. Jamie Fisher also picks up her 13th win on the season as she improves to a 13-1 record. The Panthers have now extended their impressive winning streak to 15 consecutive games, just 3 games shy of the all-time record of 18 games which was set during the 1977 season.

The Panthers will take the field again Wednesday afternoon when they travel south to take on No. 11-ranked Missouri.
