WICHITA, Kan. - After two days of battling adverse weather conditions and a tough field of competitors at the KT Woodman Classic, University of Northern Iowa senior Olimpia Nowak emerged with the heptathlon title on Thursday. Nowak totaled 5,365 points for the third-best heptathlon score of her career.

UNI freshman Paige Knodle took third place in her first-ever collegiate heptathlon competition, scoring 4,964 points.

Nowak already ranked No. 2 all-time at UNI in the heptathlon, but Knodle was able to join her on the all-time performance list at No. 5.

Knodle and Nowak finished 1-2 in both the javelin and the 800m - the final two events of the day. Knodle threw 122-08 (37.40m) in the javelin and finished the 800m in 2:18.10. Nowak notched a personal-best throw of 119-11 (36.55m) and recorded an 800m time of 2:19.13.

More UNI track & field athletes will be competing this weekend at the Jim Duncan Invitational in Des Moines and at the Cornell Open in Mount Vernon, Iowa.
