EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. -- The University of Northern Iowa women's soccer team fell short at Southern Illinois-Edwardsville on Sunday afternoon, 2-0.
The Cougars found the back of the net in the 12th minute when Sarah Doggendorf found Kristen Dailey for the score. The 1-0 margin remained until intermission.
SIUE added a goal in the 82nd minute when Katye Skrivan found Michelle Auer for the score.
UNI was outshot in the match 11 to nine including a margin of seven to six in shots on goal. The Cougars also held the advantage in corner kicks, four to three.
Freshman Maggie Riley fired three shots on goal for the Panthers. Senior Ashley Capone chipped in with three shots with one on goal, and sophomores Charlotte Jones and Caitlyn Fuller each added a shot on goal for UNI. Senior Melissa Hagan also notched one shot in the match for the Panthers.
Junior goalkeeper Erin Zaideman allowed one goal while tallying two saves through 66 minutes of play. Zaideman was replaced by fellow junior goalkeeper Nicole Postel. Postel recorded two saves while allowing a second Cougar score.
UNI (3-3-0) will be back in action on Tuesday night when they square off with in-state rival Iowa State in Ames, Iowa. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m.
