Egan finished the race in first overall with a time of 18:53.50, which beat his time at the Oz Memorial a year ago by over a minute. Running across the finish line second for the Panthers and 16th overall was Terry Nielson with a time of 19:50.85. Nielson was also able to improve his time from last year's competition by more than 30 seconds.
Junior Andrew Swanson finished the race third for UNI with a time of 20:07.18 followed by freshman Zach Buchheit coming in fourth for UNI and junior Calvin Kibby rounding out the Panther top-five.
"I was really happy with the men's performance today," assistant coach Dave Paulsen said. "We ran better than we did a year ago here. We had some freshmen that ran well and everyone did well. Brett winning two weeks in a row is a great accomplishment and we are excited to see what he can do."
On the women's side, the Panthers had two top-25 finishers with seniors Allison Fick and Hayley Thomas. Thomas finished first for UNI is 16th place overall with a time of 23:19.95 earning nine team points for the Panthers.
Fick finished second for the Panthers coming in with a time of 23:33.41 and a 22nd place finish overall. Fick ran a time of 24:34.03 at last year's Oz Memorial, beating that time today by over a minute.
Lindsey Wilkins finished third for the Panthers with a time of 24:18.29, which also beat her time from last year's competition. April Davidshofer crossed the line fourth for UNI with a time of 24:49.36, beating her time from last year by over 40 seconds. Alex Wilson rounded out the top-five finishers for UNI with a time of 25:15.19.
"Hayley and Allison led the girls for the second week in a row," Paulsen said. "Allison improving her time by one minute in a year is outstanding. We are really excited that two of our girls finished in the top-25."
The Panther cross country program will have a small break before returning to action Sept. 22 when they travel to Carbondale, Ill. to compete at the Saluki Invitational.
