The University of Northern Iowa women's doubles team of Stefannia Russo and Lindsay Cayton earned fifth place honors in the Maroon Bracket of the 2012 Gopher Invitational on Saturday.
Russo and Cayton scored a pair of wins in the consolation rounds on Saturday to earn the fifth place honor. Russo and Cayton defeated Annie Mahoney/Sidney Dirks of Gustavus Adolphus in their first match of the day, 8-3. Then Cayton and Russo teamed up to score an 8-6 win over Milwaukee's Kristin Kurer and Brittany Donovan.
UNI's Jessica King and Chelsea Moore went 1-1 on the day with their victory coming in an 8-4 triumph over Eastern Michigan's Ankita Bhatia and Daphne Friedrichs.
King also scored a three-set win in the singles competition with a victory over Milwaukee's Brittany Skemp, 6-1, 3-6,6-2.
Lankelma added a double-bagel triumph over St. Catherine's Michaela Burroughs, 6-0, 6-0.
