The Sean Earl Lakefront Invite will be the biggest meet that the Panthers have competed in this season, showcasing over 50 teams on both the men's and women's sides. Top-ranked Wisconsin will be competing in both the men's and women's races along with other notable division I programs Illinois, Northwestern and Purdue.
The race will take place right along Lake Michigan starting at the Montrose Beach House. The majority of the course is on grass, with a few spots ran on asphalt. There is one main hill that the Panthers will have to tackle three times in the women's race and five times in the men's race.
UNI is coming off yet another strong weekend of competition when they headed to Carbondale, Ill. to compete at the Saluki Invitational. Brett Egan was honored by the Missouri Valley Conference this week as the MVC Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week for his performance at the Saluki Invite.
Egan took top overall honors in the Saluki Invitational 8k race with a time of 25:14.70. The victory was Egan's third-consecutive after he won the Bulldog Classic on Aug. 31 and the Oz Memorial on Sept. 7.
Egan won the Bulldog Classic, beating the rest of the field, including last year's MVC champion, by over 19 seconds.
Egan followed up that performance at the Oz Memorial in Minneapolis, Minn. by cutting nearly a minute off of his time from the previous year to secure the top honors again. Egan won the Saluki Invitational by a 15 second margin.
On the women's side, the Panthers had eight runners finish in the top-25, with three of them finishing in the top-10. Allison Fick led the way for the UNI women finishing in third place overall with a time of 18:32.06.
Hayley Thomas wasn't far behind, continuing her strong cross country season with a fourth place finish overall with a time of 18:45.11.
