Meet the Panthers: Senior Amber Kirschbaum

Senior Amber Kirschbaum played and started in all 34 games last season during the Panthers' historic run to the WBI Championship. She is hoping to continue that success into this season and make history again during her final season on the team.

"I want to have a winning record in non-conference, to win the MVC regular season and win the MVC conference tournament," Kirschbaum said. "And I want to make it back to the NCAA to make some noise."

Kirschbaum averaged 9.2 points and led the team with 7.1 rebounds a game last season. She is also 10th all-time at UNI in blocked shots with 62. Kirschbaum has been a leader on the offensive and defensive side of the ball and is happy to have surrounded herself with similar players.

"My favorite part about basketball is being part of a team that has the same ability as you and has similar goals as well," she said.

The Panthers were picked to finish fourth in the MVC this season. Kirschbaum is looking forward to the conference season because of the opponents they will face.

"I am looking forward to either the game against Wichita State or Missouri State the most," Kirschbaum said. "Those are usually two our toughest opponents."

Kirschbaum has set several goals for herself and the team this season. With her being one of only three seniors, her leadership will be a pivotal part of the team this year.

"One of my main goals is to be one of the top rebounders in the MVC and to make a consistent impact on the court," she said. "I want to help lead my team to a championship."
