The University of Northern Iowa women's basketball team will travel to Seattle on Wed., Mar. 21, and face the Seattle University Redhawks in the semifinals of the Women's Basketball Invitational (WBI). Tip is set for 9 p.m. (CT) at the Connolly Center.
Seattle (20-11) defeated Wright State 82-65 on Sunday afternoon to claim the final spot in the WBI semifinals. Minnesota and Manhattan remain alive on the opposite side of the bracket.
UNI (18-14) advanced to the WBI semifinals with road wins at Stephen F. Austin (83-67 on Mar. 15) and Sam Houston State (78-69 on Mar. 17).
Seattle is in its final year as a Division I independent before joining the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) in July 2012.
The WBI Championship game will be held on either Mar. 24 or 25 and hosted by the school with the best RPI. Currently, the RPI lists Minnesota at 121, UNI at 151, Seattle at 152 and Manhattan at 194.
