The University of Northern Iowa athletic department has honored four Panthers as the Student-Athletes of the Month for March. Olimpia Nowak (Track & Field - Rawicz, Poland), Daniel Gooris (Track & Field - Albuquerque, N.M./Cibola), Mackenzie Daigh (Softball - Bucyrus, Kan./Berean Christian) and Johnny Moran (Men's Basketball - Algonquin, Ill./Jacobs) were selected by the UNI Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).

Nowak is a senior on the UNI track & field team, majoring in psychology.

Nowak battled through an ankle injury to finish eighth in the pentathlon at the NCAA Indoor Championships with 4,038 points, becoming UNI's first women's track & field All-American since 2008. The eighth-place finish was her third indoor top-14 national finish of her career.

Gooris is a senior on the Panther track & field squad, majoring in movement and exercise science: sport psychology.

Gooris scored 5,662 points to claim ninth place in the heptathlon at the NCAA Indoor Championships and earn second-team All-America honors. He was the top Panther men's finisher at the NCAA Indoor Championships since Tyler Mulder placed third in the 800m in 2009. Gooris' performance was the second-highest heptathlon point total of his career.

Daigh is a senior gerontology: social sciences major who has started all 33 games as the shortstop and leadoff hitter for the UNI softball team.

Daigh is hitting .400 on the season, leading the Panthers in batting average, runs (28), hits (46) and RBI (23). She owns the second-best slugging percentage on the team (.583) and third-best on-base percentage (.462). Daigh has guided the Panthers to a 24-9 record, a 9-0 start in Missouri Valley Conference play, and a current 11-game winning streak.

A senior exercise science major, Moran closed out his UNI career with the most games ever played by a Panther at 135.

In his final game, Moran drained five three-pointers and scored 19 points in a two-point loss at Drexel in the second round of the NIT. He finished the season with 53 made three-pointers and an average of 7.5 points per game.
