Atterbury Named to Women's Golf MVC Scholar-Athlete Squad

University of Northern Iowa senior women's golfer Brittany Atterbury (Rockton, Ill.) has been named to the Missouri Valley Conference's Women's Golf Scholar-Athlete Team.

Atterbury has a 3.37 grade point average and is majoring in communications. Atterbury placed fourth overall at the 2012 State Farm MVC Championships in Terre Haute, Ind., on April 22-24. Atterbury carded rounds of 75, 76 and 73 in the championship meet.

The criteria for the MVC scholar-athlete team parallels the CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America) standards for academic Capital One Academic All-America® program. Nominees must have at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average (4.0 scale), while the student-athletes must have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at their institutions and must have participated in at least 50 percent of her team’s rounds or played at the State Farm MVC Championship.

Atterbury is the fourth Panther to earn a spot on the women's golf MVC Scholar-Athlete squad. Jennie Bickel (1999, 2000), Laura Larson (1999) and Dana Moening (2004, 2005, 2006) were the previous three Panthers named to the Scholar-Athlete squad.
