DES MOINES, IOWA - Cedar Falls residents and visitors benefitted from each three-pointer made by the University of Northern Iowa (UNI) Panthers during the 2011-12 football and basketball seasons.
Wellmark's 3-Point Play made a donation to the Cedar Falls Recreation Division for each field goal made during the Panthers' 2011 football season, and each three-point basket during both the men's and women's 2011-12 basketball seasons. Nearly $30,000 has been raised through the program to date - with nearly $15,000 raised during the 2011-12 sports seasons.
"Without Wellmark, and this wonderful 3-Point Play program, the Washington Park redevelopment project would not be where it is today," said Mark Ripplinger, director, Cedar Falls Recreation Division. "We have been able to build an innovative playground and plan to add a swing set in the coming year."
Wellmark will continue to make a donation to the Cedar Falls Recreation Division for each field goal and three-point basket made during the 2012-13 UNI sports season. Five other Division I universities in Iowa and South Dakota are part of the 3-Point Play program.
