Kara Park joined the UNI athletics staff Feb. 22, 2010, as an academic advisor.
Park advises the women's basketball, men's/women's golf, women's soccer, women's swimming and diving, women's tennis, men's/women's cross country/track and field, women's volleyball and wrestling programs at UNI.
She also works with the CHAMPS/Life Skills program at UNI.
Park earned both her Bachelor of Arts in education (2005) and her Master of Arts in education (2007) from UNI. She most recently held the title of Assistant Director for Student-Athlete Academic Services at the University of Akron in Akron, Ohio, after beginning as an athletic academic advisor there.
While at Akron (2007-2010), Park was responsible for the advisement of six NCAA Division I athletic teams, as well as certifying the eligibility of those teams.
Park worked with student-athletes on an individual basis, monitoring academic progress and assisting with the CHAMPS/Life Skills program. She also taught a freshman orientation course entitled Student Success Seminar for first-year student athletes.
As the Assistant Director of Student-Athlete Academic Services, Park created a comprehensive orientation program for all incoming student-athletes.
Prior to her time at the University of Akron, Park served as a graduate assistant in educational leadership, counseling, and postsecondary education at UNI from 2005-2007.
