History
In 1963, the Athletic Club was established to ensure participants in collegiate athletics had the opportunity to cherish success both in the classroom and on the playing field. During the past 46 years, the organization has seen a tremendous growth, a growth that strives to provide for Panther student-athletes. That inaugural year, 100 people contributed a total of $6,000. Today, the Panther Scholarship Club generates more than $1 million in cash and $500,000 in gifts-in-kind each year from supporters across the country. Although the name has changed, the mission remains the same.
Who We Are
The Panther Scholarship Club (PSC) is the fundraising arm of UNI Athletics. Comprised of over 1,700 donors to Panther Athletics. Contributions to the Panther Scholarship Club provide the student-athletes and coaches at the University of Northern Iowa with the resources necessary to compete at the highest levels in the classroom and in competition.
Mission
The Panther Scholarship Club's purpose is to raise money in order to assist the athletic department in providing scholarship support for student-athletes. Each year, universities across the country rely heavily on private contributions from people like you to help keep pace with the escalating costs of higher education. Not only does your investment assist with scholarship funding, but it enables UNI to give each student-athlete and sport program support in ways that will encourage academic and athletic success.
Vision
Our vision is to fully fund all of our athletic scholarships. Our athletic scholarship bill is approximately $3.8 million/year. To date, we currently raise approximately $1.12 million toward our scholarship bill. For every dollar raised above the $1.12 million, we get closer to our ultimate goal. Championships start with scholarships! Each and every year, we strive to close the gap between our scholarship bill and the amount we raise.
