Southern Illinois Too Much for UNI

CARBONDALE, Illinois-The University of Northern Iowa women's tennis team fell to the Southern Illinois Salukis, 6-1, this afternoon in Carbondale.

In doubles, Cassandra Dix and Krissy Lankelma fell to Melanie Delsart and Korey Love of SIU 8-3 in the No. 1 match. Chelsea Moore and Jessica Kunzelmann won their No. 2 match, defeating Natasha Tomishima and Jennifer Dien of SIU 8-5. Anita Lee and Anastacia Simons of SIU defeated Stefannia Sampaio and Lindsay Cayton 8-1 in the No. 3 match.

Dix fell to Delsart of SIU 6-7 (0-8), 6-3, 6-1. Kunzelmann had the only singles win of the day for the Panthers, defeating Dien of SIU 6-2, 6-3 in the No. 2 match. Moore was defeated by Lee of SIU 2-6, 6-3, 6-2 in the No. 3 match. Lankelma fell to Tomishima of SIU 6-3, 6-4 in the No. 4 match. Ariadna Cairo Baza of SIU defeated Sampaio 8-4 in the No. 5 match. Cayton, in her first match as a Panther, fell to Love of SIU 8-1 in the No. 6 match.

The Panthers will head back on the road next weekend where they will face Creighton on April 21 at 11:00 a.m.
