Announced today by the MVC, Ryan Horner of the UNI men's golf team was named as a first team scholar-athlete. Horner posted a GPA of 3.80 in his sophomore year as an accounting major.
Horner joins Wichita State's Calvin Pearson as the only two first time selections to the team.
Horner finished the 2012 season with a 12th place finish at the MVC Championships and helped lead UNI to a third place finish at the final meet.
He also won the Elite-18 award earlier in the month for being the highest achieving participating student in the State Farm MVC Championships.
