The University of Northern Iowa men's and women's cross country teams look forward to competing in their first meet of the season with the opening of the 4k Bulldog Classic on Fri., Aug. 31 at Ewing Park, located on the south side of Des Moines.
The double-duel meet will include both men and women competitions. The women's race will begin at 5 p.m., followed by the men's race at 5:45 p.m.
The UNI men will have experienced leadership this year with their top two finishers from the 2011 Championship, Brett Egan (12th) and Ryan Krogmann (42nd), returning for their senior campaign. Terry Nielsen will also add experience to the trails.
The Panther women return five of their top seven runners from its 2011 team, with four of them being seniors (Hayley Thomas, Lindsey Wilkins, Scotti Schon and Allison Fick).
