UNI opened their conference season with a 1-0 victory over Indiana State and then went on to tie the Drake Bulldogs, 1-1 in double overtime. The 1-0-1 start to MVC play marks the best start in conference play in program history. The Panthers will look to continue their success against Missouri State on Sat., Oct. 6, at the Cedar Valley Soccer Complex. First kick is set for 2:00 p.m.

Scouting the Opponents

Missouri State is off to a 6-6-2, 0-1-1 MVC start this season. The Bears offensive attack features a trio up front with three players tallying three goals or more on the season. Michelle Sommer and Rachel Weimer have four goals apiece while Shelby Stewart has three scores credited to her name. Molly Brewer has four assists on the season for Missouri State and has chipped in with two goals. Two-time MVC player of the week honoree Nia Williams anchors the Missouri State defense that has allowed one goal or less 10 times this season. Chelsea Voet has played every minute in goal for Missouri State this season, posting 57 saves and six shutouts. Head Coach Rob Brewer is entering his 17th season at the helm of the Bears.

Starting Conference on the Right Foot

UNI is 1-0-1 in MVC play this season. It is the first time in program history that UNI is unbeaten in its first two MVC matches. UNI has never started out conference play unbeaten in three consecutive matches. The Panthers will attempt the feat vs. Missouri State on Saturday.

Balanced Attack

Nine different Panthers have scored this season with sophomore Charlotte Jones leading the way with four. Nine Panthers also have an assist credited to their name including senior Melissa Hagan and junior Claire Clark with two apiece.

Getting to Extra Time

Extra time has been something the Panthers have thrived on throughout this season. To date, UNI is 3-0-1 in extra time with victories over Eastern Illinois, North Dakota State, and St. Ambrose. The lone draw came against MVC-foe Drake.

Posting Zeros

Junior goalkeeper Erin Zaideman posted her fourth shutout of the season over St. Ambrose. Zaideman is closing in on the program record for shutouts in a season at UNI (5).

Home Sweet Home

This season UNI has posted a mark of 3-1-1 at the Cedar Valley Soccer Complex. The Panthers are just 3-6 on the road this season. The schedule the rest of the way features two home matches and two away matches, all versus MVC competition.
