The University of Northern Iowa swim and dive team will begin the 2012-13 season at home. The Panthers will host the South Dakota State Jackrabbits on Friday at 6:00 p.m. The meet will be held at the Glen F. Henry swimming pool in the Wellness and Recreation Center on campus. Admission to the meet is free to all. Last season the Jackrabbits got the best of the Panthers, defeating them 189-105.
This will be the coaching debut for head coach Doug Humphrey. Humphrey was the assistant coach at the University of Nebraska since 2000 before coming to UNI. This is what Coach Humphrey had to say about the meet on Friday: "South Dakota State brings a lot of experience to the pool... I like our chances, and I like the way we stack up against them. We need to come out and win the events we need to. I think that we will surprise them a little bit. This team will hopefully be something very competitive to them, and we can steal one. Last year they handled UNI pretty well, but I don't see them repeating that."
