University of Northern Iowa senior women's tennis player Phoebe Walker won the singles A draw at the 2012 Kansas Invite.
Walker posted a 6-2, 6-0 semifinal win over UMKC's Laura Bouet to advance to the final. Walker then won the title with a 6-3, 6-3 triumph over Iowa State's Meghan Cassens.
"Phoebe played a great tournament," head coach Mariana Cobra said. "She only dropped eight games in singles in the three matches. She is playing at a high level."
Walker and teammate Krissy Lankelma reached the doubles final with a dominating 8-0 win over the No. 1 seeded Kansas duo of Claire Dreyer and Anastasia Trubich. Walker and Lankelma committed only three unforced errors in the match to advance to the championship.
Walker and Lankelma met the Iowa State pairing of Meghan Cassens and Jenna Langhorst in the title match. The Cyclones were able to take the title with an 8-5 win.
"We were not as aggressive on the big points as we needed to be in the doubles' final," Cobra said.
The KU Invite wrapped up UNI's fall season.
