UNI to Host South Dakota in the Pool on Saturday

CEDAR FALLS, Ia.- The University of Northern Iowa swim and dive team will host the South Dakota Coyotes at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The meet will be held in the Glen F. Henry Pool at the Wellness and Recreation Center on campus. Last season, South Dakota defeated UNI 138-105.

Last Friday, the Panthers opened the season at home against the South Dakota State. UNI fell to the Jackrabbits 139-104. Bethany Hovland earned a victory in both the 1-meter and 3-meter dives. She scored 238.87 points in the 1-meter and 240.07 points in the 3-meter dive. Sarah Kemp took third in the 1-meter (180.60) and second in the 3-meter (214.57). Natalie Johnson took first place in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:02.23. Reva Bork took second in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 10:58.64 and Taylor Ostrowski followed with a time of 11:01.25 to earn third. Lindsey Phelps earned a second place finish in the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:01.23.

Head coach Doug Humphrey had this to say about the meet: "We competed very well. As I mentioned last week we are kind of a work in progress. We are continuing to grow, and we had a lot of great performances top to bottom over the weekend. Very optimistic that we are going to continue to perform better this week then we did last week. We definitely made a great step in the right direction."
