ST. LOUIS, Mo.- University of Northern Iowa swimmer Taylor Ostrowski earned Missouri Valley Conference Swimmer of the Week the league office announced on Wednesday. Diver Bethany Hovland also earned honors as Missouri Valley Conference Diver of the Week. This is the second time this season that Hovland has been awarded this honor.
Freshman Taylor Ostrowski had a very impressive meet for the Panthers over the weekend. She took home three wins for UNI in the meet against the South Dakota Coyotes. She took first place in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:09.61.Ostrowski recorded another win in the 100 butterfly at a time of 1:00.47. She rounded off her winning day with a first place finish in the 400 IM with a time of 4:43.89. The Coyotes ended up slipping past the Panthers 159-141.
Senior Bethany Hovland swept the diving events again for the second meet in a row. She took first place in both the 1-meter and 3-meter dive events at the Panthers' meet against the South Dakota Coyotes. Hovland put up a score of 257.10 points in the 1-meter and 267.37 points in the 3-meter.
The Panthers return to the pool on Saturday when they host Illinois State at 2:00 p.m.
