CEDAR FALLS, Iowa - David Johnson has been honored by two separate organizations today for his performance against South Dakota. Johnson was named the Missouri Valley Conference Offensive Player of the Week and the College Sports Madness MVFC Offensive Player of the Week.
Johnson led the team to victory against the Coyotes, scoring all three touchdowns during the contest. He notched two rushing touchdowns and 130 yards on the ground while also grabbing a 20-yard catch for his sixth receiving touchdown of the season.
He is now tied for 10th at UNI in career rushing touchdowns with 20. He is tied with current associated head coach and co-offensive coordinator Bill Salmon for 10th on the rushing touchdowns list.
He is also now tied for 10th at UNI in career touchdowns scored with 28. He is tied with Mike Furrey (1997-99) with 28 touchdowns. Furrey had 27 receiving touchdowns and 1 return touchdown. Johnson has 20 rushing touchdowns and eight receiving touchdowns.
He has scored at least one rushing touchdown in eight straight games and notched his fourth multi-touchdown game this season against South Dakota.
Johnson and the Panthers return to action on Saturday Nov. 17 to host the Missouri State Bears for Senior Night. The game is set to kick-off at 4:00 p.m.
