ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Senior punter Kyle Bernard and sophomore offensive lineman Jack Rummells were named to the 2012 MVFC All-Academic team today. The two UNI student-athletes are two of 44 student-athletes named to the first, second and honorable mention teams.

This is Kyle Bernard's first time to be named to the All-Academic first team, but was named to the second team last season. He currently holds a 3.82 GPA and is majoring in Movement and Exercise Science.

Bernard punted 38 times this season with an MVFC-best 44.1 average. Bernard would have ranked No. 6 in the nation if he qualified with the minimum number of punts. Bernard had 14 punts of 50 or more yards this season. He had 14 punts downed inside the 20-yard line.

Rummells was named to the honorable mention team, receiving his first MVFC academic honor. He is also majoring in Movement and Exercise Science and has a 3.46 GPA.

Rummells was an integral part in helping the Panthers to a total of 1,637 rushing yards during the season. He helped David Johnson and Carlos Anderson achieve 1,458 total rushing yards and held opposing defenses to only 11 sacks of UNI quarterbacks.

Nominees must be starters or important reserves with at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average (4.0 scale). Student-athletes must have reached sophomore academic and athletic standing at their institutions (freshmen are not eligible) and must have completed at least one full academic year at their institution. League sports information directors voted on the team by designating 11 players for first-team honors and 11 players for second-team honors.
