GRAND FORKS, ND- The University of Northern Iowa swim and dive team fell to the University of North Dakota in a dual meet Saturday afternoon in Grand Forks, North Dakota. UND defeated the Panthers 183-117.
Taylor Ostrowski took first place in her premier event, the 200 butterfly. She finished with a time of 2:09.32. She also finished first in the 100 butterfly and recorded a time of 59.92. Bethany Hovland took first place in the 3-meter dive with 269.25 points. Allie Bey finished second in the 1-meter dive and recorded a season high 241.45 points.
Other notable performances for the Panthers include a second place finish in the 50 freestyle by Stephanie Frederick. She had a time of 25.14 in the event. Frederick also took third in the 100 freestyle with a time of 55.23. Sierra Sachtjen took the runner up spot in the 200 backstroke and recorded a time of 2:11.98. Reva Bork took third in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 11:06.39. Caryn Knight finished second in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:11.04 and Stephanie Paape placed third with 1:12.00. Knight also took second place in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:33.02.
The Panthers will not return to the pool until January 11th when they host the University of Nebraska-Omaha. A time is still to be determined.
