CLEVELAND, Ohio – Senior punter Kyle Bernard has been named one of 54 winners of the 15th annual Football Championship Subdivision Athletics Directors Association Academic All-Star Team, it was announced today by the FCS ADA.

Bernard was one of seven Missouri Valley Football Conference student-athletes chosen. Two other conferences had seven student-athletes named to the All-Star Team including the Big Sky Conference and the Southern Conference.

Football players from all Football Championship Subdivision institutions are eligible for these prestigious awards. Each of the nominees were required to have a minimum grade point average of 3.20 during their undergraduate study and have been a starter or key player with legitimate athletic credentials.

Bernard is also one of six finalists for the 12th annual FCS ADA’s $5,000 Postgraduate Scholarship. Two student-athletes will receive postgraduate scholarships during the association’s annual membership meeting held in Orlando, Fla. June 13-15.

Bernard is currently finishing his degree in Movement and Exercise Science and holds a 3.82 GPA. He was also named to the MVFC All-Academic first team this season.

The Cedar Falls, Iowa native punted 38 times this season with an MVFC-best 44.1 average. Bernard would have ranked No. 6 in the nation if he qualified with the minimum number of punts. Bernard had 14 punts of 50 or more yards this season.
