Jacqui Kalin and Hannah Schonhardt finished the game leading the Panthers with nine points each. Schonhardt also notched nine rebounds while Kalin finished with eight.
The Panthers and the Bluejays started the game in a tough defensive battle with the first field goal of the game not being scored until the 17:43 mark in the first half. Creighton's McKenzie Fujan knocked down a three-pointer to give the Bluejays a 3-0 lead.
Sharnae Lamar hit UNI's first field goal of the game with 15:50 on the clock off a jumper from in front of the free throw line. Brooke Brown followed suit with a lay-up, cutting the Creighton lead to two points, making the score 6-4 with 13:44 left in the half.
Lamar cut the lead again off a floating shot from beyond the free throw line to make it a 11-10 in favor of Creighton with 9:54 remaining. After Creighton gave themselves a five-point lead off a layup and two free throws from Marissa Janning, Schonhardt hit an open three-pointer closing in on the Bluejay lead, making the score 15-13.
Kalin streaked through the Creighton defense with less than five minutes left in the half for a quick lay-up, followed by a free throw off a Creighton foul, cutting their lead to one point. Creighton's Sammy Jensen hit a three-pointer, but Lamar continued her strong performance with a trey of her own, making the score 20-19 with 3:52 left in the half.
Creighton went into halftime with a 24-21 lead, forcing the Panthers to their third lowest first half score of the season. The Panthers finished the half shooting 31 percent from the field and only 15 percent from the arc.
Creighton opened the second half on a 11-2 run sparked by a three-pointer from Carli Tritz, giving the Bluejays a 35-25 lead with 16:17 left in the game. Kalin was able to stop the run with a lay-up, but the Bluejays returned their lead to double figures after Jordan Garrison hit a three-pointer to make the score 40-29 with 13:10 left in the half.
Keitel was able to cut the Creighton lead to 10 points with 9:55 left in the game off a lay-up, making the score 43-33. Schonhardt came away with a steal on the defensive end setting Brown up under the basket where she was fouled. Brown converted one of her free throws to cut the lead to single digits of 43-44.
Creighton took their largest lead of the night with 3:28 left in the game off a 6-0, with Tritz scoring four of those points. The Bluejays held a 51-37 lead with less than three minutes left in the game.
Schonhardt hit a three-pointer with 33 seconds left in the game to make the score 52-40. Creighton finished the game with the win, making the final score 54-40 with a lay-up in the last 10 seconds of the game.
