INDIANAPOLIS - Six wrestlers from the University of Northern Iowa team have earned a spot in the second of three coaches panel rankings.

The NCAA released the second of three coaches panel rankings and the first rating percentage index (RPI) for the 2012-13 wrestling season. The final rankings and RPI will be two of the tools used as part of the selection process to determine the qualifiers for the 2013 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships.

Wrestlers in each weight class will be measured by winning percentage, rating percentage index (RPI) and coaches' rankings to earn spots for their respective qualifying tournaments for the 2013 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships. The coaches' rankings are compiled by a vote of coaches representing each qualifying tournament. For ranking purposes, coaches may only consider a wrestler that has been designated as a starter at a respective weight class.

To be eligible for an RPI ranking, a wrestler must have a minimum of 17 Division I matches at a given weight class. The top 33 wrestlers in the RPI are listed for each weight class.

UNI will see two of the top-ranked wrestlers at this weekend's NWCA National Duals: Jordan Oliver, Oklahoma State University (149 pounds) and Dustin Kilgore, Kent State University (197 pounds). Kilgore is the only top-ranked wrestler from the Mid-American Conference.

Ranked UNI wrestlers:

  • 133 - Levi Wolfensperger 10th RPI; 10th coaches rank
  • 141 - Joey Lazor 17th; RPI; 15th coaches rank
  • 149 - Bart Reiter 29th coaches rank
  • 157 - David Bonin 19th RPI; 20th coaches rank
  • 174 - Cody Caldwell 24th RPI; 23rd coaches rank
  • 184 - Ryan Loder 4th RPI; 6th coaches rank
