FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The University of Northern Iowa softball team wrapped up the final day of the Woo Pig Classic this afternoon taking a 1-0 decision over the Wright State Raiders.
UNI (7-13 overall) scored the walk-off win on a double from senior catcher Samantha Reimer. Gina Brown led off the inning by reaching first on an error. Head coach Ryan Jacobs sent in Rachel Sedlacek to pinch run for Brown. Nicole Fisher singled to right but Sedlacek was gunned down trying to advance to third. But Reimer came through with a double to center that plated Fisher for the victory.
Jamie Fisher (4-8) tossed her second shutout of the season. Fisher allowed four hits and struck out two in going the distance.
UNI finished the Woo Pig Classic going 2-3 on the weekend finding both wins over Wright State. The Panthers will take the field again next Friday in Stillwater, Okla., taking part in the Oklahoma State Mizuno Classic. UNI will face the likes of Cleveland State, Oklahoma State and Santa Clara with a pair of seeded games to follow.
