CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – Former University of Northern Iowa wide receiver Terrell Sinkfield has signed a free agent deal with the Miami Dolphins of the National Football League.
Sinkfield, who played his final season with the Panthers in 2012, will begin his pro career in Miami as part of the Dolphins. The Dolphins have appeared in four Super Bowls, including their perfect season in 1972.
The Minnetonka, Minn. native was a three-year starter for the Panthers, playing in 39 games and accumulating 1,097 yards through the air for 10 touchdowns. He averaged 14.4 yards per reception on 76 total catches during his career at UNI.
During his senior season, Sinkfield finished with 499 receiving yards and four touchdowns. As one of the core receivers for the Panthers during the 2012 season, Sinkfield finished with touchdowns against Central State, North Dakota State, Western Illinois and Missouri State.
In 2011, Sinkfield started in 11 of the 13 games for the Panthers, racking up 464 yards and six touchdowns. During his 2010 season, the then-sophomore reeled in a 47-yard pass for a career long reception against North Dakota State.
