University of Northern Iowa senior middle blocker Shelby Kintzel and senior outside hitter Macy Ubben were both named to the Capital One Academic All-District volleyball team, representing District 6. To be eligible for the award, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore starter or important reserve and hold a 3.30 or better grade point average. Kintzel and Ubben are now candidates for Academic All-America honors.
Kintzel holds a 4.0 GPA in Elementary Education, Mathematics and Literary Education. She is currently sixth in the Missouri Valley Conference in hitting percentage (.323). She averages 2.73 kills per set and 0.88 blocks per set for the Panthers. This is the second time that Kintzel has earned this award in her career.
Ubben has a 3.93 GPA in Biology and Biochemistry. She leads the Panthers with 3.06 kills per set. She averages 3.29 digs per set, second on the team, and 0.76 blocks per set. This is the first time she has earned this honor in her career.
