University of Northern Iowa women’s tennis head coach Daniel Finn announced the signing of Gisela Kemper to a National Letter-of-Intent to play for the Panthers this fall.
Kemper (Volendam, The Netherlands) is ranked in the top 20 in The Netherlands. She holds a national under-16 ranking of No. 13 and a national open women’s ranking of No. 80 in The Netherlands. Kemper was ranked as high as No. 5 in the national under-16 rankings. This past summer, Kemper reached two semifinals and two quarterfinals of national tournaments.
“Gisela is a competitor,” Finn said. “Her junior experience, combined with her talents, will translate quickly for her at UNI. It will help her become a strong player in our lineup. She fits our system really well. I already have great expectations for our program next season and adding a player of Gisela’s level only solidifies what we will be able to accomplish. When you put together the kind of talent we are getting at UNI – good results will soon follow.”
Kemper said she is excited about joining the UNI women's tennis team.
"After talking with Coach Finn, I felt a connection to the program," Kemper said. "He told that UNI is a safe place and has a family feel surrounding it. Of course, UNI has my choice of study so that helps as well. I believe UNI is the right place for me for my studies and for tennis. I cannot wait until August when I can finally become a Panther."
The UNI women’s tennis team posted a 12-12 mark in the 2014 dual season. The Panthers were a perfect 11-0 in home dual matches this past year.
