• UNI will open the 2014 season at the Marcia E. Hamilton Classic in St. Louis, Mo. UNI will begin the campaign on Fri., Aug. 29, against Alabama at noon. UNI will take on the Saint Louis Billikens on Friday at 7 p.m. The Panthers will close the tournament on Saturday against Southeast Missouri State at 5 p.m.

• The University of Northern Iowa women’s volleyball team is celebrating 40 years of competition in the 2014 season. The Panthers first fielded a volleyball squad in the 1974 season.

• UNI volleyball has tallied an overall record of 988-319-22 as the Panthers enter the 2014 season.

• The Panthers rank No. 6 all-time in NCAA Division I winning percentage (.786). UNI trails only Penn State (.864), Hawaii (.856), Nebraska (.843), Florida (.829) and Stanford (.809) in NCAA Division I winning percentage totals.

• The Panthers consistently have ranked among the national leaders in attendance, including ranking No. 8 in the nation in 2013 with an MVC single-season record average of 3,267 fans per home match.

• The Panthers earned two first-place votes in the preseason Missouri Valley Conference coaches poll and are projected to finish second in the league.

LET’S OPEN IT UP
The UNI Panther volleyball squad will open the 2014 season at the Marcia E. Hamilton Classic in St. Louis, Mo.
    UNI will begin the campaign on Fri., Aug. 29, against Alabama at noon. UNI will take on the Saint Louis Billikens on Friday at 7 p.m.
    The Panthers will close the tournament on Saturday against Southeast Missouri State at 5 p.m.

ALL-TIME SERIES
UNI is 1-1 all-time vs. Alabama with the Panthers having picked up a victory in the 2006 season at home in the West Gym.
    The Panthers are 5-2 all-time vs. Saint Louis. UNI scored a five-set victory over the Billikens last season in St. Louis.
    UNI won the only previous matchup vs. Southeast Missouri State in the 1981 season in a 2-0 sweep.

TWO-FIRST PLACE VOTES
The Panthers earned two first-place votes in the preseason Missouri Valley Conference coaches poll.
    UNI is projected to finish second behind Wichita State. Last season, UNI and Wichita State tied for the regular season title with 15-3 league marks.

40 YEARS OF UNI VOLLEYBALL
The University of Northern Iowa women’s volleyball team is celebrating 40 years of competition in the 2014 season.
    The Panthers first fielded a volleyball squad in the 1974 season.
    The 40-year celebration will culminate during Homecoming/Alumni Weekend on Sept. 19-20.
    The UNI Volleyball 40th Alumni Weekend Celebration fees are set for $20 for adults, $5 for children ages 6-13 and children five and under are free.

MVC REGULAR SEASON TITLES
The Panthers have tallied 16 regular season Missouri Valley Conference titles through the years.
    UNI won the regular season title in 1986, 1987, 1988,1990,1991, 1994, 1995, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2006, 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2013.

18 NCAA APPEARANCES
In its 18 trips to the NCAA tournament, UNI has posted 14 wins, advancing to at least the second round 11 times.
    UNI has advanced as far as the NCAA’s Sweet 16 three times since 1999. In 2002, the Panthers went into the NCAA tournament as the No. 1 seed in the East Region.

LITTLE PANTHER CLUB
The Little Panther Volleyball Club is a club for kids ages 5-12 years old.
    The club will allow youngsters the opportunity to learn volleyball skills and activities from the UNI Volleyball players and coaches. The cost of the Little Panther Volleyball Club is $25, which includes:

• Official Little Panther Volleyball Club T-shirt
• Clinic with instruction from UNI players and coaches on Sun, Oct. 12, from 1-4 p.m.
• Pumpkin Carving on Sun, Oct. 26, from 1-3 p.m. in the West Gym.
• “Playing in McLeod” on Fri, Nov. 14 club members can demonstrate volleyball skills learned on the court between games two and three of the Panthers’ game vs. Indiana State at 7 p.m.
• Free admission to regular season home UNI Volleyball games in the McLeod Center (Use the pass list at the SW entrance.)
* No free admission to the $1 Iowa State (Sept. 24) match.

    The UNI Volleyball Team also invites all Little Panther Volleyball Club members to line up and give all the Panther players good-luck high-fives before each home match.
    The Clinic will be held from 1-4 p.m. in the Wellness and Recreation Center (next to the UNI-Dome) on the campus of the University of Northern Iowa. Campers need to be checked in by 12:45 pm. Snacks will be provided at the end of the clinic.

Live radio coverage of the UNI Panther volleyball team can be found on KWLO (1330-AM).
    Brad Wells will serve as the play-by-play announcer for the season-opening tournament in St. Louis.
    Chris Kleinhans-Schulz will return for his third season as the play-by-play voice of Panther volleyball on Sept. 5.

WEEKLY PRESS LUNCHEONS
UNI head coach Bobbi Petersen will be available at the weekly Press Luncheons held each Monday beginning at noon in the back room of Pepper’s Grill and Sports Pub located on 18th Street in Cedar Falls.
