CEDAR FALLS, Iowa - The University of Northern Iowa women’s basketball team hosted its sixth annual Golf Gig, with 88 golfers participating in the tournament. Twenty-two teams in all participated in this year’s outing, with each group including a UNI player or coach.

The team of Keith Sandvold, Jeff Sandvold, Jacob Nelson & Dalton Klosson along with UNI sophomore Erin Dohnalek shot a sizzling 50 to win the championship. They edged out the team of Todd Hermansen, Jeff Rogers, Jim Renz, Matt McManus and UNI senior Brooke Brown who carded a 51.

Following 18 holes of golf at Pheasant Ridge Golf Course was lunch and a program to recognize the winning golfers. The program featured President Bill Ruud, Athletic Director Troy Dannen, head coach Tanya Warren and junior captain Stephanie Davison.

“Once again we were blessed with ideal weather and lots of great supporters to help make our annual outing a huge success,” Warren said. “We can’t thank all of our supporters and sponsors enough for what they do for us.  Now we turn our attention to start preparing for our season opener Nov. 14 against Tulsa.”
