COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.The University of Northern Iowa picked up its fourth Western Wrestling Conference dual win Sunday afternoon, topping Air Force 25-12. UNI is now a perfect 4-0 in WWC action.

 

The Panthers won seven of the ten duals, picking up wins from Brett Robbins (149 lbs.), David Bonin (157 lbs.), Brice Wolf (174 lbs.), Ryan Loder (184 lbs.), Andy OLoughlin (197 lbs.), Blayne Beale (Hwt.) and Caleb Flores (125 lbs.). Bonin, Loder and Flores picked up bonus team points for the Panthers with Bonin and Flores scoring major decision wins while Loder notched a technical fall.

 

Starting the match at the 133 pound slot, Air force jumped to an early 8-0 lead on the Panthers after picking up a decision win at 133 pounds and a technical fall at 141 pounds.

 

UNI got on the board after Robbins scored a 10-8 decision over Josh Kreimer at 184 pounds. No. 19-ranked Bonin, who won his sixth consecutive match, pulled the Panthers within one at 8-7 with a major decision win over Alec Williams at 157 pounds.

 

Air Force’s Clayton Gable extended the Falcon’s lead to 12-7 with a major decision win over Trevor Kittleson at 165 pounds. That would be the last bout the Falcons would win as the Panthers won the next five matches.

 

Wolf got the Panthers back on the winning track at 174 pounds as he scored a 7-2 decision over Joseph Stafford. No. 7-ranked Loder then extended his winning streak to 12 matches with a decisive 15-0 technical fall over Kazden Ikehara at 184 pounds, thus giving the Panthers a 15-12 lead.

 

OLoughlin secured a 6-4 decision at 197 pounds before Beale won his third career dual with an 8-6 decision over Jared Erickson at the heavyweight slot.

 

Flores put the finishing touches on the victory, scoring a 14-5 major decision over the Falcons’ Tyler Spangler at 125 pounds.

 

UNI (11-9, 4-0 WWC) returns to the mat for its final dual of the 2010-11 season, hosting Wyoming Sunday, Feb. 20. Action from the West Gym is scheduled to start at 2 p.m.
