PHILEDELPHIA, Pa. - Redshirt freshman quarterback Sawyer Kollmorgen has been chosen one of five The Sports Network FCS National Player of the Week, it was announced today.
Kollmorgen was given the distinction of Co-Freshman of the Week. This is his second honor this week for his performance against Wisconsin.
In his season debut, Kollmorgen became just the fifth freshman in UNI history to start at quarterback. He completed 18-of-34 passes for 265 yards and three touchdowns.
Kollmorgen led a fourth-quarter rally with two touchdown passes to David Johnson, cutting the score from 26-7 to 26-21. Kollmorgen was also named the MVFC Newcomer of the Week.
The Panthers are set for their home opener on Sat. Sept. 8 where they will take on Central State inside the UNI-Dome. The game is set to kick-off at 6:00 p.m.
