ST. LOUIS, Mo. -University of Northern Iowa senior defender Missy Journot has been honored as the Missouri Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Week. The league announced the honor Tuesday morning.

Journot led the Panthers to a 2-1 mark for the week with wins over California State University, Bakersfield and Indiana State.  Journot tallied a goal on a corner kick and an assist in the 3-1 win over Bakersfield.  She then recorded both of the assists on the Panther's two goals against Indiana State, both coming on corner kicks in the 2-0 win. 

With the defensive efforts of Journot the Panthers have allowed one goal or less in seven games this season and posted three shutouts. 

UNI has tallied five wins this season to date.  The last time the Panthers had at least five wins in a season was in 2007-2008 when they posted eight wins.
