Panthers in Seventh After Day One of Jackrabbit Invitational

PRIMM, Nev. – The University of Northern Iowa men’s golf team is in seventh place after the first day of the Jackrabbit Invitational being held at Primm Valley Golf Club. Through two rounds, the Panthers have posted a six-over-par 582.

 

UNI fired a first-round 289 to stand in fifth place as a team after 18 holes and followed it up with a 293 in the second round. Missouri leads with a team score of 545 (-31). A total of 14 teams are competing in the two-day event.

 

Freshman Michael Wetrich led the Panthers, firing 69-73--142 (-2). Fellow freshman Kyle Beversdorf was close behind, shooting 70-73--143 (-1). Wetrich and Beversdorf are tied in 17th and 21st, respectively, on the individual leaderboard.

 

Yarri Bryn posted a 76-69--145, Braden Gaal carded a 74-79--153, and Jared Doerfler recorded a 77-78--155.

 

Wetrich and Bryn each set new season-lows with their rounds of 69.

 

Competition will conclude with the final round on Tuesday.
