University of Northern Iowa sophomore Ryan Horner has been named to the Missouri Valley Conference's Elite 18 Award winner for men's golf.
The MVC's Elite 18 Award - modeled after the NCAA's Elite 88 Award, is given to the highest achieving participating student-athlete at the championship.
Horner, a native of Waukee, Iowa, has a 3.80 cumulative grade point average and is majoring in accounting. Horner posted a second-round 69 (par-70), the lowest round of the 2012 MVC Championships, at Prairie Dunes Country Club in Hutchinson, Kan.
Horner helped lead the UNI Panthers to a third-place team finish. Horner tied for 12th overall at the championship meet.
