The No. 3-seeded Wichita State Shockers rolled to a 3-0 sweep of No. 2 seed Missouri State in the semifinals of the Missouri Valley Conference Volleyball Tournament on Friday evening in the McLeod Center. Set scores were, 25-16, 25-23, 25-13.
Wichita State junior Emily Adney led all players with 16 kills. Senior setter Mary Elizabeth Hooper notched 34 assists and shared the digs team lead with Camri Zwiesler at 15.
The Shockers recorded 16.5 total team blocks in the contest.
Calli Norman led the Bears with nine kills. Missouri State's Ashley Mason led all players with 19 digs.
The Shockers jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first set and cruised to a 25-16 set victory. Wichita State hit .204 in the set to outpace Missouri State's .116 hitting percentage.
In a second set that featured 12 ties and five lead changes, the Shockers charged back from an early 8-2 deficit and took the final two points to win the set at 25-23.
Holding a 9-8 lead in the third set, the Shockers used a 16-5 run to close out the match.
Wichita State hit .186 as a team, while Missouri State hit .064.
Wichita State (21-9, 13-5 MVC) advances to Saturday's 6:37 p.m. MVC Tournament final against the winner of the UNI-Illinois State semifinal scheduled for 7:30 p.m Friday night.
