Trio of Panthers Earn Their Degrees

            CEDAR FALLS, Iowa - Three members of the University of Northern Iowa women's basketball team participated in commencement activities on May 7. Lizzie Boeck, Erin Brocka and Jacqui Kalin each picked up their diplomas in the ceremony in the UNI-Dome.

            Boeck, a native of Milwaukee, Wis., earned her bachelor's degree in family services. While playing for the Panthers, she earned second-team academic all-conference honors as a junior and first-team honors as a senior. She was also a CoSIDA Academic All-District second-team selection in 2011.

            Brocka, a native of Allison, Iowa, earned her degree in movement and exercise science. She was an honorable mention for the Missouri Valley Conference scholar-athlete team as both a junior and senior.

            Kalin, a native of Sioux City, Iowa, earned her bachelor's degree in movement and exercise science in December, finishing with a 4.0 GPA. She was a first-team MVC scholar-athlete selection in 2010 and 2011, and she was named the 2011 MVC Scholar Athlete of the Year. She also earned first-team CoSIDA Academic All-District honors, and she was a second-team CoSIDA Academic All-American. She will work toward a master's degree in kinesiology while she competes in her senior season in 2011-12.
