University of Northern Iowa juniors Brett Egan and Scotti Schon led the way for the Panther cross country teams at the Iowa Invitational held at Ashton Cross Country Course in Iowa City on Friday evening.

Egan clocked an 8k time of 26:38.90 to claim seventh place overall in the men's dual meet with Iowa. Teammate Aaron Vosberg was close behind, finishing in 26:40.80 for eighth place.

Senior Brendan Thompson took 11th place, senior David Nielsen took 12th, and freshman Terry Nielsen took 13th place.

Vosberg, Thompson, David Nielsen and senior Brady Fritz all improved their times from one year ago at the Iowa Invitational.

In the women's 3k race, Schon led the Panthers across the finish line with a ninth-place finish in 10:48.70. Junior Lindsey Wilkins posted a time of 10:50.60 for 10th place, while senior Jill Lageschulte took 11th place in 10:52.70.

Alex Wilson and Leah Blanchard rounded out the UNI scoring in 13th and 14th place, respectively.

All five of the Panthers' top finishers posted times better than UNI's best individual performance at this meet last season.

Iowa swept the men's and women's titles in the dual meet format.

UNI will compete next at the SDSU Classic in Brookings, S.D., on Oct. 1.
