PEORIA, Ill. - The University of Northern Iowa men's and women's cross country teams competed at the Bradley Classic on Friday evening, with the Panther men taking 11th place as a team and the UNI women claiming 12th place.
All 18 UNI runners recorded season-best performances. Seven Panther women and four men also notched personal-best times.
Junior Brett Egan led the men's squad for the fourth time this season, posting a season-best 8k time of 25:11.90 for ninth place overall. Senior Brady Fritz placed 52nd, clocking a season-best time of 26:15.10.
David Nielsen crossed the line in 26:22.10 for 66th place, Brendan Thompson finished in 26:36.20 for 79th, and Terry Nielsen rounded out the Panthers' scoring with a time of 26:45.80 for 90th place. Tanner Reyhons and Ryan Krogmann also recorded their best 8k times of the season for UNI.
UNI was 11th as a team with 278 points. Drake took the men's team title with 76 points.
Senior Jill Lageschulte led UNI for the second-straight meet and for the second consecutive year at the Bradley Classic 6k. Lageschulte crossed the line in 22:25.75 for 42nd place and a new season-best. Junior Hayley Thomas was the No. 2 Panther finisher, taking 55th place with a time of 22:42.76.
Junior Scotti Schon posted a personal-best time of 22:48.53 for 61st place, Lindsey Wilkins was 81st in 23:05.47, and Leah Blanchard was close behind to complete the UNI scoring with a time of 23:06.08 for 82nd place.
Allison Fick, Alex Wilson, April Davidshofer, Carly Olsen, Shelby Curtis and Haley Stevens all clocked season-best times as well for the Panthers.
The UNI women were 12th as a team with 299 points. Missouri was first with 65 points.
UNI will compete next at the Missouri Valley Conference Championships being held in Terre Haute, Ind., on Oct. 30.
