The University of Northern Iowa athletic department has honored four student-athletes as the Student-Athletes of the Month for their achievements in January. K.K. Armstrong (Women's Basketball - Cedar Rapids, Iowa/C.R. Washington), Daniel Gooris (Track & Field - Albuquerque, N.M./Cibola), Olimpia Nowak (Track & Field - Rawicz, Poland) and Ryan Loder (Wrestling - Granite Bay, Calif./Granite Bay) were selected by the UNI Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).

Armstrong is a senior guard on the UNI women's basketball team, majoring in criminology.

Armstrong came up one assist short of recording the second triple-double in UNI history against Illinois State on Jan. 14, tallying 17 points, 10 rebounds, and nine assists. Against Bradley on Jan. 20, she became the only player in the nation this season to record 25+ points, 8+ steals, and 7+ rebounds in a non-overtime game.

Gooris is a senior on the Panther track & field squad, majoring in movement and exercise science: sport psychology.

Gooris is the top pole vaulter in the Missouri Valley Conference, having cleared over 17 feet in three meets this season. At the Hilltop Open on Feb. 3, he cleared a lifetime-best 17-04.50 (5.30m) to tie for No. 17 in the nation in the pole vault. Gooris was the top collegiate finisher in the pole vault at the Panther Open and at the Jack Johnson Classic.

At the Jack Jennett Invitational in the UNI-Dome on Jan. 27-28, Gooris posted a personal-best score of 5,549 points on his way to the heptathlon title. He is currently ranked No. 1 in the MVC and No. 16 in the nation in the heptathlon.

A psychology major, Nowak is a senior on the UNI track & field team.

Nowak owns the No. 4 pentathlon score in the nation after scoring 4,008 points to win the Jack Jennett Invitational on Jan. 27. She also set the UNI school record in the 60m hurdles on Jan. 21, running 8.44 seconds - a new meet record at the Jack Johnson Classic. Nowak is ranked No. 1 in the MVC and No. 37 in the nation in the 60m hurdles.

Loder is a sophomore management: business administration major on the Panther wrestling team.

Loder is ranked No. 6 in the nation with a 27-2 overall record this season and an 11-1 dual record. He recorded wins in the Panthers' January duals against Northern Colorado, Air Force, Wisconsin and Utah Valley. Loder also went 3-0 in UNI's three duals this past weekend against Iowa State, North Dakota State and South Dakota State.
