UNI Partners With Stretch Internet for Audio/Video Streaming
Aug. 25, 2008 Cedar Falls, Iowa - The University of Northern Iowa has partnered with Stretch Internet to create "UNI GameDay Online", allowing Stretch to serve as the official online audio/video provider for Panther athletics events. Most home events for Panther football, volleyball, wrestling and men's and women's basketball will have live video and audio content, while numerous UNI road events will have audio-only streams. This new internet channel, which replaces UNI All-Access, takes effect immediately. The Panther football team opens its season this Saturday (Aug. 30) when the Panthers travel to take on Brigham Young University. "We're excited about our new partnernship with Stretch Internet," UNI director of athletics Troy Dannen said. "The Panthers have fans all across the nation, and we want to provide them the best possible opportunity to follow all the UNI action when they can't be there in person." In addition to live events, "UNI GameDay Online" will also carry UNI weekly coaches shows and selected post-game press conferences, and other value-added items such as team highlight videos. To sign up, fans can go to www.unipanthers.com and click on the "UNI GameDay Online" link. Panther fans who have signed up in the past for All-Access will need to subscribe to this new service through Stretch Internet. Pricing is as follows: Stretch Internet, based in Mesa, Ariz., provides streaming and other Internet services to nearly 200 high schools, colleges, universities, professional teams and radio stations while reaching an audience of more than 50,000 users per month.
