MEN'S SPORTS COVERAGE
In 2009-10 News/ Talk 1540 KXEL will begin its 10th year as the flagship radio station of the University of Northern Iowa Sports Network. UNI Athletics and The Radio Group of Waterloo have a broadcast agreement that carries the Panthers on the "Blow Torch" through 2009-2010. KXEL will carry all regular and post-season Panther football and men's basketball games, the weekly Mark Farley and Ben Jacobson shows, as well as other special programming focused on UNI Athletics. Panther Sports Properties workds to coordinate the Panther Sports Network, which includes 12 stations.

Announcers

In 2009-10, Gary Rima (pictured right) returns, with his signature catch phrase, "Oh Baby!" for his 16th year as the radio voice of the Panther Football and his 16th year on the radio for Men's Basketball. Scott Peterson (pictured left) is back in the booth for his 19th season as football color-analyst on the UNI Sports Network. Peterson was a three-time letterman for UNI in the 1970s. Kevin Boyle, enters his ninth season as color-analyst for the Panther men's basketball broadcasts. Boyle was a former UNI assistant coach under Eldon Miller.
WOMEN'S SPORTS COVERAGE

The University of Northern Iowa and KWLO radio (1330 AM, Waterloo) began broadcasting UNI women's basketball and volleyball starting in the fall of 2005. All women's basketball games and as many as 14 volleyball matches will be aired, as well as all postseason play by both teams. Announcers for both sports have yet to be determined and will be employed by UNI. KWLO is one of a number of stations owned by the KXEL Broadcasting Company, including KXEL (1540 AM).
