The Basics: The University of Northern Iowa football program will stay at home this week to take on the North Dakota State Bison. The game is set for a 6 p.m. kick Sat., Oct. 29, for UNI's Black Out game.
About the Bison: North Dakota State enters the game at 6-1 overall and 3-1 in MVFC play. The Bison's only loss of the season came at the hands of South Dakota State, losing 19-17 in the FargoDome. Most notable during the season, the Bison took down No. 11-ranked Iowa for a top-25 FBS win. UNI will face off against the Bison who are ranked in the top-40 in the FCS in total offense and total defense, including a No. 8 rank in rushing defense.

UNI fell to the Bison, 23-13. The Panthers opened the game with a touchdown early in the first quarter from Brandon Smith, but had to settle for two field goals for points later in the game, eventually falling to the Bison.
Week 7 Awards: Eli Dunne was named MVFC Offensive Player of the Week and CFPA FCS National Performer of the Week for his dominant play against Missouri State (10/22). Dunne led the team to a 61-7 win over the Bears, racking up 418 yards on 25 completions, adding two touchdowns. Jacob Appleman was also announced as the MVFC Offensive Lineman of the Week.
Well-Dunne: In his first career start as a Panther, Eli Dunne set a school record for passing yards in a debut, going for 418 yards and two touchdowns against Missouri State (10/22). Drought no More: Prior to UNI's game against Missouri State (10/22), the Panthers hadn't scored an offensive touchdown in the third quarter. Thanks to a strong passing game from Eli Dunne, UNI ended the drought with a 17-yard reception by Jalen Rima in the end zone. It was Rima's first-career touchdown in the Purple and Old Gold.
Coincidence: UNI finished the game against Missouri State (10/22) with 556 yards of total offense. The last time UNI had 500-plus yards of total offense was oddly enough, against Missouri State. UNI racked up 512 yards against the Bears in 2015.The Panthers also scored 61 points against Missouri State, the first time since 2009 UNI has posted 60-plus points.

A.J. started the game by picking off the MSU quarterback on the very first play of the game, setting UNI up for its first points.
