UNI Returns to McLeod for Alumni Weekend

UNI GAME NOTES
CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – The University of Northern Iowa women's basketball team (6-9, 2-2 MVC) will return home for a pair of Missouri Valley Conference games this weekend, starting with Evansville (3-11, 0-3 MVC) on Friday and Indiana State on Sunday (3-11, 1-2 MVC).
UNI's game against the Purple Aces will tip at 7 p.m. CT, while Sunday's game versus the Sycamores will start at 2 p.m. CT. The pair of games will serve as UNI's Alumni Weekend, while Friday's contest will be UNI's annual "We Back Pat" game.

NEED TO KNOW
- UNI (6-9, 2-2 MVC) hosts Evansville and Indiana State for a pair of Valley contests on Friday at 7 p.m. CT and Sunday at 2 p.m. CT.
- The Panthers have won their last seven games over the Purple Aces, while winning the last six against the Sycamores.
- The pair of games will serve as Alumni Weekend for the Panthers, while Friday's contest will be UNI's annual "We Back Pat" game.
- Redshirt junior Ellie Howell enters the MVC contest averaging a team-best 12.3 points per league game.
- Sophomore Megan Maahs enters the weekend with six double-doubles on the season, while averaging 10.3 ppg and 9.7 rpg on the year.
- Maahs and redshirt senior Kennedy Kirkpatrick have scored 15 or more points in four games this season, the only two Panthers to do so in 2017-18.
SERIES WITH SERIES WITH EVANSVILLE/INDIANA STATE
- UNI leads the overall series against Evansville, 32-19, but trails the all-time series against Indiana State, 30-41.
- The Panthers have been dominant over both squads of late however, winning seven-straight over the Aces and six-straight against the Sycamores.
SCOUTING THE PURPLE ACES/SYCAMORES
- Evansville owns a 3-11 record on the season, while starting off MVC play 0-3.
- The Aces are led by guard Hannah Noe, who owns 15.0 scoring average this season.
- Noe's 15.0 scoring clip is ranked fourth in the MVC.
- Indiana State also enters this weekend sporting a 3-11 record overall, but the Sycamores have turned in a 1-2 record in league play.
- The Sycamores are led by forward Wendi Bibbins, who averages 11.2 points per contest this season.
DEFENDERS OF WARREN
- UNI is 136-21 under the direction of head coach Tanya Warren when holding an opponent to 60 points or less.
- Five of UNI's top-10 scoring defense averages in school history have come during the Warren era, while the Panthers ranked second in the Valley last season after holding opponents to 58.3 points per game.
- UNI was 19-0 in 2016-17 when holding foes to 60 points or less, so far this season the Panthers are 4-4.
PANTHER SHARP SHOOTERS
- UNI has knocked down 115-of-374 (30.7%) from 3-point land this season.
- The 115 made 3-pointers this season rank as the second-most in the MVC.
- The Panthers are averaging 7.7 made 3-pointers a game.
- Last season, the Panthers shot 250-848 (29.5%) from beyond the arc to average 7.6 made 3-pointers a game.
- Senior Kennedy Kirkpatrick and junior Mikaela Morgan leads the Panthers with 21 made 3-pointers each this season.
UNI CONTROLS THE GLASS
- This season, the Panthers lead the MVC with a 3.0 rebounding margin over foes.
- UNI has outrebounded 10 foes this season, with the highest margin of 18 coming against Wyoming earlier in November.
- When outrebounding teams this season, UNI is 5-5 on the season.
- The Panthers are averaging 39.5 rebounds per contest, which ranks third in the MVC.
UNI'S STRENGTH OF SCHEDULE RANKS NO. 85
- This season, the Panthers have played one of the toughest schedules in the MVC, ranking No. 80 in the nation and second in the conference.
- Drake currently ranks No. 58 in the country.
- Overall, past opponents this season have earned a 105-83 record.
LUCKY NO. 15
- Sophomore Megan Maahs has scored 15 points in four games this season.
- Maahs and redshirt senior Kennedy Kirkpatrick are the only Panthers to score 15 or more points in four games this season.
DOUBLE TROUBLE
- Sophomore Megan Maahs is the only Panther to record a double-double for UNI this season, logging six on the year.
- For her career, Maahs has earned seven double-doubles as a Panther. The sophomore has earned the last seven double-doubles for UNI.
- The sophomore is 36th in the NCAA for total rebounds per contest at 9.7.
- In the MVC, Maahs tops the league this season in rebounds per game (9.7), defensive rebounds per game (6.7) and most double-doubles (6).
HOWELL HEATS UP IN LEAGUE PLAY
- This season, redshirt junior Ellie Howell has scored in double figures seven times, with three of those coming in conference play.
- Howell scored a season-high 21 points against Loyola, before posting 10 and 12-point performances at Southern Illinois and Missouri State last week.
- During MVC play, Howell is averaging a team-best 12.3 points per outing.
WARREN IN THE VALLEY
- Head coach Tanya Warren is fifth all-time wins in the Missouri Valley Conference, with 120 league victories under her belt. Warren is behind Creighton's Jim Flanery (2003-13) who owns 131 wins.
- Overall, Warren's 192 wins also rank fifth overall, placing behind Barbara Hilke (1983-92) of Eastern Illinois' 231.
