The University of Northern Iowa dance team has qualified for the finals at the 2009 Universal Cheer Association/Universal Dance Association (UCA/UDA) National Championships in Orlando, Fla.

UNI began the competition as one of 24 teams in the event. The Panthers are one of 15 teams to qualify for the finals on Sunday, which begin at 10 a.m. UNI enters the finals after having placed seventh among the top 15 teams.

The UNI Dance Team is made up of 13 members and is student-run. Four members of the squad make up the choreography committee and act as the student coaches. The dance team performs at all home men's and women's basketball games as well as all home football games. This marks the eighth time since 1999 that the UNI dancers have qualified for the UDA's national championships. The UNI Dance Team recorded an all-time best finish of fifth at the 2007 championships.
